- “Mango Growth
1. Different varieties:
There are many varieties of mango such as Alphonso (Hafous), Kesar, Totapuri, Banganapalli etc. Different varieties differ in taste, shape and ripening season.
2. Soil:
Deep and moist sweet soil is best for mango.
It is necessary to control that water does not accumulate in the soil (otherwise the roots can rot)
3. By seed:
The seeds are removed from the mango fruit and cleaned.
These seeds are planted at the right depth in the soil.
After some time, a small cell (sprout) emerges from them.
4. Field preparation:
Before planting, the land should be dug well. Fill the hole with non-weeding compost (rotten cow dung compost) and good nursery soil and plant the seeds.
5. Climate:
The temperature for mango is considered ideal between 24°C and 30°C.
It needs full sunlight.
Hot and dry climate is favorable for mango.
6. Fertilizer and nutrition:
To ensure rapid growth of the tree, use organic fertilizer from time to time and chemical fertilizers if necessary.
7. Water and care:
Regular watering is required in the initial days.
Once the tree is ready, even less water is sufficient.
8. Pesticides:
Spray the necessary pesticides to protect the young plants from pests and fungi. Especially take steps to protect against leaf scab and scale insects.
9. Time:
After planting the seed, it takes about 3–5 years for a mango tree to become a tree.
After that, it starts bearing fruit.
10. Pruning:
Pruning is useful in the initial years to give the tree the right shape. This way the leaves get more food and the tree becomes healthy.
11. Fruit picking season:
Mostly mangoes ripen in the months of May-June. The fruit should be picked on time and properly so that it produces quality produce.
